Grenoble, France

I arrived Grenoble quite late at night. This is another trip that I travelled alone again. A picture on the left is my hotel and a picture below is a foundtain in front of it.

The Old City
This city is surrounded by mountainous Alf. Its nearby areas are famous ski resorts. The major transportation in the city is Tram similary to many cities in Germany and Switzerland. Anyway, surprisingly, most of the people here cannot speak English ^^'

    Scenary in a myst
Grenoble has one 'land-mark' egg-shape transportation which can bring you up the mountain to view its beauty. I tried one in the early morning before the conference start and took some photos from there. So sad that it is quite cloudy during that time :'(

      Lyon, France
Lyon is the second largest city in France after Paris. It is only one hour and a little bit by train from Grenoble (every 15 minutes).

    An Open Art Gallery
My first impression of this city is an open art garrelly. It stunned me for a couple of hours walking around admiring them (Anyway, it seems to be a temporary project).

      The city of two rivers
The beauty of Lyon cames from its location where the old town is in the middle of two fairy wide rivers with several bridges in various styles around.

    Hilly Sceneries
Here is a photo focusing on a land mark Cathedral on a western hill. I walked up there for viewing the panoramic scene of Lyon and took several photos along the way ^_^

    Along the way ...
There are many interesting scenaries around such as a man-made waterfall (30 degree slop), a number of nice Cathedrals, etc.

    Creativity
Most decoration here are decorated with colourful marbles, which reminded me of Orthodox church in Poland. Also, it has a beautiful mathematical clock (but less complicate than the one in Strasburg) and a number of dancing fountains in many pedastrial square.

    Roman Stadium
I've met a nice France family while walking around the old Roman opera stadium and they kindly took a photo for me :)

You can view more Grenoble photos from Mladen's web (a presentor in this CASES 2002 conference)
