September 15-19 : G e r m a n y (+ Swiss & France)

Switzerland

After woke up around 4:45am, my supervisor (Simon) and me finally arrived Zurich in the morning. Then, we hired the Avis car from the airport and drove to Basel for a lunch + sight seeing. This photos is the church nearby our parking area with a fantastic fountain show.

Freiburg, Germany

Here is the city that we have a Conference (International Conference in Computer Design = ICCD). The red building on the right is the venue (the historic merchant house) and the picture above-right is a square in front of it. I'm so lucky that the weather is very present that time ^_^

Historic Merchant Building

Here is a photo of me with my supervisor & Aris infront of the conference building. After the first day of the conference... we decided to go searching for some famous German's bear garden (but I ordered bitter lemon ^^') and a nice local restaurant.

The City Centre

One thing that I quite like about Freiburg is its German/Swiss/France architecture, the little water path (which is very similar to Hobson's one in Cambridge), trams/bikes transportation systems and its old architectures.

Lake Titisee

This is a large & beautiful mirror lake in the Black Forest. Most of people in the lower-left photo are from the conference.

Black-Forest Style Dinner

Here is a restaurant that our conference has a special dinner (a very typical German style) with loads of show (e.g. playing many types of local music instruments, showing how to cook a Black-Forest cake).

Strasburg

After I finished my presentation, we decided to celebrate with a dinner in France (Strasburg)! Yummy ^_^

Black-Forest

Finally, Simon (my supervisor) kindly drove back through the Black Forest which allows us to visit several small village & sight-seeing place before returning to Zurich.
